Charming family home surrounded by woodland and a beautiful lush garden, close to Bruges and the sea
Our two-storey house is a cozy and spacious house in Hertsberge, not even 20 minutes from Bruges. It's set in a stunning neighbourhood, surrounded by the forest and nature. You don't hear anything but the trees. At times you can spot deer and squirrels in the garden and several special birds.
We recently moved here and are still overwhelmed by the wonderful views on the garden you have from the house. Whether you are in the kitchen, living room, office or our little wellness space (studio) above the garage, you always look out on the beautiful lush garden.
On the ground floor there's a hall with toilet to the right and the laundry room to the left. From the hall you'll walk into a very cosy living room where you immediately get the nice view on the garden, as there are a lot of large windows. There's a new coach, a (new) fireplace, a wing piano and a little play corner. From the living-room you can enter the kitchen. The oaken kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave and a Falcon oven. While dining in the light-filled kitchen, it is as if you are completely surrounded by nature. Both the living room and the kitchen give way to a terrace, partially shelted by trees to protect you from the sun.
In the living room you can open the large sliding door that gives way to another compartment of the house. You'll find the master bedroom and bathroom. The stairs will bring you to the cellar (downstairs) or to the upper floor where you find two bedrooms and a bathroom. In the landing between the two floors there's a nice office.
And that's not it. Behind the house there's a spacious garage with a studio on top. The studio sleeps another two people. You can also enjoy the sauna there or work out on the treadmill. There's also another shower and toilet.
The house is set on a spacious 8,000-square-metre estate. In the garden we created several terraces where you can enjoy the where you can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our grounds.

About the neighborhood
Discover Hertsberge and the surrounding area
Hertsberge is a charming, peaceful village surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful woodland. It’s a wonderful place for families and nature lovers, with plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling right on your doorstep. At the same time, the historic city of Bruges is just a short drive away, while the Belgian coast is easily accessible for a day by the sea.
There are so many things to see and do in the area.
If you enjoy culture and history, we definitely recommend visiting the beautiful cities of Bruges and Ghent. Bruges is only a 20-minute drive away and is famous for its picturesque canals, medieval streets and charming atmosphere. Just outside Bruges, you’ll also find wonderful places to walk and enjoy nature. Ghent is about a 40-minute drive away and is another beautiful historic city, with a lively atmosphere, impressive architecture and plenty of cafés and restaurants.
For those interested in history, we highly recommend a visit to Ypres (Ieper). The area has a fascinating and moving history, particularly linked to the First World War, with many interesting sites, museums and war memorials to explore.
If you would like to enjoy a day at the beach, there are several options. Our personal favourites are De Haan and Nieuwpoort, both of which are lovely seaside resorts with beautiful beaches. The coast can also be reached by bike for those who enjoy longer cycling trips. Alternatively, you can drive a little further north into the Netherlands and visit Cadzand, which is another lovely place to spend a day by the sea.
For families with children, there is plenty to do as well. You can visit the fantastic Plopsaland theme park, enjoy one of the local swimming pools, spend a day at a recreational pool in Bruges, or discover one of the many indoor playgrounds in the area. There are also plenty of outdoor activities, nature walks and cycling routes suitable for families.
And of course, you don't always have to get in the car. The area around Hertsberge is perfect for walking and cycling, with quiet country roads, forests and beautiful green landscapes. It’s a lovely place to simply slow down, spend time outdoors and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
We are more than happy to share our favourite places, restaurants, cycling routes and day trips with you and give you plenty of tips to help you make the most of your stay.
Despite being surrounded by nature, Hertsberge has everything you need for everyday life. In the village itself, you’ll find a bakery, pharmacy and some lovely restaurants. Just 5 km away is the vibrant town of Oostkamp, where you’ll find several supermarkets, bakeries, shops, restaurants and bars. So although our home is in a wonderfully quiet and green setting, all the conveniences you need are close by.
In short: Hertsberge is the perfect base if you want to combine peace and nature with culture, the beach and plenty of things to do.

Gute Kommunikation, schönes Haus, alles wie erwartet. Kindersitze für Auto wurden leider nicht vorbereitet, wurde dann aber rasch von den Großeltern erledigt.
Wir hatten eine ausgezeichnete Kommunikation, einen unkomplizierten Umgang und Hilfestellung, wo sie nötig war. Das Haus war wie beschrieben und sehr sauber.
Famille charmante et région à découvrir , la maison est telle que décrite. Nous avons retrouvé la nôtre comme nous l'avions laissée
Prima huis om te verblijven. Mooie grote tuin, Hier en daar nog wat verbouw, maar niet hinderlijk. Goed contact ook met Hannelore.
